More and younger children than ever before are self-harming. There is a stigma around self-harm that can stop young people who are worried about self-harm from looking for help. Part of this stigma comes from the misconceptions that surround it, such as the idea that boys don’t self-harm - they do - or that it is attention-seeking. It is not easy to just stop self-harming and we continue these campaigns to make more people aware of it and make it easier for young people to get help and get through it.
Therefore, our group decided to hold a Self Harming Awareness Campaign, hoping that we can at least do something on this one of the most concerned issues in our country. Our target audiences of this campaign are youths, especially 16-23 age groups. Self Harming can be explained by the statistic done in 2011 in Malaysia, showing that more students were found to be involved in self harming. The reasons why they involve in self harming is stress, problems at school or home, peer pressure and many others. Youths are our hope; are the one who will bring the glory of our country in the future. Hence we, as a part of Malaysia, must take prompt action to stop drug abuse and addiction among the youngsters in order to guarantee the good quality of our heirs.
